About Yvonne

Career

Yvonne Vogelenzang studied Slavonic languages and liguistics at the State University of Leiden. This study was followed by a post-doctorate course in journalism at the School for Journalism in Utrecht. From 1995 till 2000 Yvonne worked as an editor, director and managing editor at Radio Nedetherlands Worldwide. In 2000 Yvonne went to work for Spreekbuis, the magazine for broadcasting staff and became editor-in-chief. In 2002 she started working for television at RTL Ontbijtnieuws. There she was an editor and managing editor. Furthermore in 2001 she took on a freelance job as an editor at Radio Nieuws Centrale (currently known as NOS Bureau Regio).

 

Working abroad

Along with her journalistic career Yvonne tried to travel as much as possible. The travel virus really got hold of her and by the end of 2007 she quit her job to travel  for a longer period. At the start of 2008 Yvonne left for Egypt and trained as a PADI diving instructor at dive centre The Dive Connection in El Gouna. She stayed on afterwards to help out for a while in the dive centre. Then she traveled the world for eight months and visited the United States, Colombia, Bolivia, Argentina, Chili, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Since 2010

In march 2010 Yvonne returned to Holland and started working again for several media companies. At the moment she mainly works for television at NOS Bureau Regio and for the radio program KRO-NCRV’s De Ochtend (NPO Klassiek). Furthermore Yvonne wrote and sold several stories about her travels, which were published in AmericA Magazine and Meridian Travel.
